Bringing Hope Charities International Disabilities Kenya

We perform outreach in the villages and streets of Kenya, Africa, for children, youth and adults with disabilities.

In Africa,  people believe that disability is a bad omen.  So, sometimes people view those impacted by disability as outcasts or as second-class citizens.  Extremely poor families and/or caregivers abandon vulnerable individuals.  This is because of their disabilities or because the family was not able to understand their needs and how to meet them.

At Bringing Hope Charities International, we affirm the equality and value of all individuals.  Those with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities are defined by their own strengths, abilities and inherent value as human beings – not by their disabilities.  Everyone has a right to the respect, dignity, equality, and safety accorded to all members of society.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.  So, we work to promote their health, welfare and interests.  We also support them socially and economically.  In addition, we work to fully integrate them into all aspects of society.  Finally, we ensure they live a full life without limits.

For families and caregivers, we can provide assistance, support, and counseling.  Our services include medical and financial assistance, help, and advice.

Our Programs

Family/Caregiver Resource Center

Through this program, we assess family needs on a case-by-case basis and provide assistance.  We can provide nutritious foods, medications, corrective surgery, or a durable medical device.  Most individuals need their basic needs met, together with other unique needs depending on the disabilities impacting them.

Support Group

When a child or other family member is diagnosed with a chronic illness or disability, it changes the family dynamics, and most people are completely unprepared to take on this enormous task.  They may find themselves dealing with the pain of an unexpected grief process and, often, an added financial strain as well.  Within this parent-to-parent directed forum for caregivers of individuals with disabilities, parents/caregivers […]

Special Education Focus

This program is for those parents/caregivers who have school-aged children, either enrolling in school for the first time or those returning to school. We continuously work on a case-by-case basis to assist and prepare the parents/caregivers of children who attend a regular school and those who qualify for specialty schools.

Recruitment, Training and Support Center

We strongly believe in providing holistic care. We emphasize recruiting volunteers from all walks of life and with diverse skills. These volunteers could be speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, or those with experience with caring for special needs children/adults. We particularly value this focus because these workers can then pass on their specialized skills to family caregivers, so that they, too, […]
